Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp dried parsley

For the Garlic Butter Topping:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  • Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
  • Add the milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Drop the dough by heaping tablespoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  • While the biscuits are baking, prepare the garlic butter topping by mixing the melted butter, garlic powder, and dried parsley in a small bowl.
  • Brush the hot biscuits with the garlic butter topping as soon as they come out of the oven. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra cheesy biscuits, add an additional 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
  • You can use a mixture of different cheeses like mozzarella or Monterey Jack for a unique flavor.
  • These biscuits are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven before serving.
