Description

Frito Taco Salad combines the crunch of Fritos corn chips with the zesty flavors of seasoned ground beef, fresh vegetables, and tangy dressing. This salad is a fun and flavorful twist on traditional tacos, perfect for picnics, potlucks, or a quick family dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 head iceberg lettuce, chopped
  • 1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 red onion, diced
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups Fritos corn chips
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  • In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain excess fat and add taco seasoning according to the packet’s instructions.
  • In a large bowl, combine the chopped lettuce, black beans, cherry tomatoes, cheddar cheese, and red onion.
  • Add the cooked taco-seasoned beef to the salad mixture.
  • Just before serving, add the Fritos corn chips and toss the salad to combine.
  • Top the salad with salsa and dollops of sour cream. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef and low-fat sour cream.
  • Add avocado slices or guacamole for extra creaminess and flavor.
